Just a few thoughts on The 2012 Grammy’s…

Finally watched my recording of The Grammy’s tonight and I didn’t have enough energy to make notes about all the winners and performances but let me just say the following:

  1. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt singing Etta James? WIN. And was it just me or was Etta not in the memorial thing? Did I miss it?
  2. I was actually underimpressed with the whole memorial thing. It seemed way too upbeat for the most part and while I thought Jennifer Hudson sounded great, I don’t know. It just didn’t do much for me. And I am a HUGE Whitney fan.
  3. Adele is made of AWESOME.
  4. The Fighters of Foo are made of ROCK.
  5. Nikki Minaj is made of BIZARRE. What WAS that? I don’t even…
  6. I think LL should have closed the show with a little Mama Said Knock You Out…just a thought. ;-)

I could make lots of other comments but I think they’ve all been made before and adding my two cents here wouldn’t really do much for anyone. I’m glad I recorded this show so I could fast forward through the artists I didn’t like. Most of the music I listen to doesn’t show up on shows like this. That’s not to say I don’t have some Adele, some Foo Fighters and even a little Nikki Minaj on my iPod right now, along with Coldplay, Maroon 5 and yes, even Chris Brown, but I also have a lot of other artists like Matt Nathanson, Todd Carey, Nathan Angelo, Ryan Star, Rachel Platten, The Boxer Rebellion, Ernie Halter, Parachute, Simple Plan, Switchfoot…okay, I could go on for hours…suffice it to say, I love music and can’t imagine my life without it. So here’s to the songs…and all the wonderful people making them every day…you, my friends, ROCK.

Here’s a sampling of what I’ve been listening to lately…hope whatever you’re listening to is filling your days with awesome…
